My Experience with Dry Eyes

Dry eyes are something I notice more often than I’d like. For me, it feels like that scratchy, tired sensation that sneaks up after a long day, and sometimes my eyes even water when they’re actually dry, which is confusing. It’s uncomfortable, distracting, and easy to brush off with a few drops. But I’ve learned that those quick fixes don't always get to the real issue. That’s why bringing it up during an exam matters. It gives the doctor a chance to understand what’s actually causing it to resolve the root cause, instead of covering it up temporarily before it inevitably returns.

I’ve noticed these dry eye symptoms tend to flare up more in certain situations. Spending long hours on a screen makes me blink less, which only makes the dryness worse. Working in construction with constant exposure to dust, dirt, wind and even bright sunlight also adds to the irritation. And when I don’t get enough sleep, the discomfort feels stronger the next day, almost like my eyes never had the chance to rest.

If you’re planning your next exam, a little preparation makes things smoother. Bring the glasses or contacts you wear every day, be sure to fill out that intake form we send prior to your appointment so the doctor can be aware of not only who you are but how we can help you in particular. It may sound small, but it makes a big difference in helping us focus on what really matters: making sure your eyes are healthy and comfortable!
